Got questions about booking TOASTA? We've got answers.
From corporate lunches and backyard parties to festivals and late-night wedding snacks, here's everything you need to know about bringing our food truck to your event.
General questions
What areas do you cater?
Our food truck travels throughout Melbourne, regional Victoria and occasionally interstate.
We regularly cater in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, Daylesford, Kyneton, Macedon, Seymour, Torquay and the Surf Coast.
Whether you're planning a party in Melbourne or a wedding in the country, we're happy to hit the road.
Where are you based?
Our warehouse and commercial kitchen are based in Spotswood, Melbourne's inner west.
Do you have a regular trading location?
These days, we're mostly about private parties!
While we still appear at selected festivals, markets and public events, most of our bookings are private functions.
Want to catch us in the wild? Follow TOASTA on Instagram and Facebook for upcoming public events.
What types of events do you cater for?
We've been around the food truck block since 2014. From secret bush doofs to billionaire birthday parties, we've catered for just about everything.
Some of our most popular events include:
- Corporate catering: Office lunches, staff celebrations, Christmas parties, product launches and workplace activations.
- Late-night wedding snacks: Toasties and triple-cooked chips to keep the dance floor going.
- Private parties: Birthdays, engagements, anniversaries and backyard celebrations.
- Festivals and public events: Music festivals, community events and large-scale food truck catering.
- Schools and universities: Student events, orientation weeks and staff functions.
- Brand activations: Promotional events, sampling campaigns and branded food truck experiences.
If you've got a crowd to feed, there's a good chance we've done something similar before.
How much does it cost to book TOASTA?
Our food truck bookings start from around $1,000, with each event quoted individually.
The final cost depends on a few things:
- Location: Travel fees may apply outside metropolitan Melbourne.
- Guest numbers: Feeding 30 people or 300 makes a difference.
- Minimum booking spend: Varies depending on the day, season and event.
- Catering package: Different packages suit different occasions and budgets.
- Service duration: How long you need the truck operating.
- Extras: Additional food, staffing or special event requirements.
Send us your event details and we'll prepare a quote.
Can guests purchase their own food?
Yes. We offer both prepaid catering and pay-as-you-go arrangements.
Prepaid catering: The host covers the catering costs, allowing guests to order directly from the truck without paying.
Pay-as-you-go: Guests purchase their own food from the truck, just like at a festival.
For pay-as-you-go bookings, a minimum spend applies. If sales don't reach the agreed amount, the event organiser covers the difference.
Our food truck
Do you require access to power and water?
Nope. Our food truck is self-sufficient.
We're equipped with fresh water tanks, a built-in generator and an LPG gas system, allowing us to operate at locations without access to external utilities.
That said, if there's a suitable 10-amp power outlet nearby, we're happy to plug in and give the generator a break.
What are the dimensions of your food truck?
When travelling, our truck is approximately:
- Length: 7 metres
- Width: 2.2 metres
- Height clearance: 3.4 metres
Once parked and ready for service, we require a footprint of approximately 8 metres long by 3 metres wide, with 3.4 metres of height clearance.
Please let us know if your venue has restricted access.
Where can your food truck access?
We've served toasties in some pretty unusual places over the years, from city laneways to paddocks in the middle of nowhere.
Our truck can access most locations, but remember, she's a big, heavy unit.
Before confirming your booking, we'll discuss access roads, ground conditions, gradients and available space.
If necessary, we can arrange a site inspection to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Can you operate on grass or unsealed surfaces?
Often, yes.
We regularly cater at farms, private properties and outdoor venues.
However, ground conditions need to be suitable for a heavy vehicle. Wet grass, soft soil, steep gradients and narrow access roads can create problems.
If you're unsure, send us some photos or a site plan and we'll assess the location.
Are permits required to have TOASTA at our event?
Our food truck is registered as a mobile food business with Hobsons Bay City Council, and we carry the relevant business insurances.
For private property, you'll generally need permission from the landowner.
For public spaces, council or event permits may be required.
We're happy to provide our business documentation to assist with any approvals.
How long does it take to set up?
We generally allow 60–90 minutes before service to park the truck, prepare our equipment and get everything ready.
Larger events may require additional setup time.
We'll confirm our arrival and setup schedule before the event.
Can you cater for large crowds?
Absolutely.
We've catered for everything from small private parties to major festivals, university events and large corporate functions.
For bigger crowds, we'll plan the menu and service format around your guest numbers and available serving time.
Our goal is simple: keep the toasties coming and the queue moving.
Can we hire the food truck without catering?
In certain circumstances, yes.
We can discuss hiring the truck on its own for promotional activations, filming, photography or other special projects.
Tell us what you've got in mind and we'll see what's possible.

I haven't finalised all my event details. Can I still book?

Once you've signed the booking agreement and paid the deposit, we can lock in your booking while you continue planning.
Guest numbers, menus and other arrangements can be finalised closer to the event, subject to our booking terms.
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier, the better.
Weekends and the busy November–December period tend to book out well in advance.
However, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings if the truck is available.
It's always worth asking.
Do you offer payment plans?
In some circumstances, yes.
We may be able to arrange staged payments depending on the size and timing of your booking.
Contact us to discuss the options.
What happens if I need to cancel my event?
We understand that plans change.
As a general rule, payments are non-refundable in accordance with our booking agreement.
When you secure a date, we reserve the truck and resources for your event and may turn away other bookings.
Closer to the event, we'll also have ordered ingredients, rostered staff and completed preparation.
If we're able to rebook your date, we may consider offering credit towards a future event, although this isn't guaranteed.
Please refer to your catering contract for the full cancellation terms.
When do I need to confirm final guest numbers?
We generally request final guest numbers and dietary requirements at least 14 days before your event.
This gives our kitchen and operations team enough time to organise ingredients, staffing and preparation.
How long can the food truck serve for?
Most private catering packages include an agreed service period of approximately 1–2 hours.
Longer service times can be arranged for festivals, corporate functions and other events.
We'll recommend a suitable service window based on your guest numbers and catering requirements.
Food & menu
What's on the TOASTA menu?
Toasties. Really good toasties.
We've been specialising in toasted sandwiches since 2014, with a menu featuring classic combinations, a few less conventional creations and our signature triple-cooked chips.
Our food is prepared for quick service, making TOASTA a great fit for everything from workplace lunches to midnight wedding snacks.
Can guests choose their own toasties?
Yes.
For most of our catering packages, guests order directly from the truck and choose from the menu selected for your event.
For large events with tight service windows, we may recommend a smaller menu to keep service moving.
Can I customise my own TOASTA?
Getting creative, are we?
We've made custom toasties for events before, and we're always happy to discuss new ideas.
Whether you're planning a themed party, corporate activation or something completely different, tell us what you're thinking.
Custom menu items are subject to ingredient availability, preparation requirements and pricing.
Can I change items in your catering packages?
Absolutely.
Our standard packages are a starting point, and we can discuss adjustments to suit your event.
Depending on the changes, pricing may need to be updated.
Do you offer vegetarian and vegan options?
Yes.
Vegetarian and vegan options are available across our catering packages.
We can also discuss a fully vegetarian or vegan menu for your event.
Do you offer gluten-free options?
Yes, gluten-free options are available.
Our truck handles ingredients containing gluten, so please advise us in advance if guests have coeliac disease or severe gluten-related requirements.
We'll discuss suitable options and our preparation procedures, including any cross-contact risks.
Can you cater for halal or kosher requirements?
We can discuss halal and kosher menu requirements and arrange suitable options where possible.
Please let us know in advance, particularly if certified ingredients or specific food preparation procedures are required.
Can you accommodate other dietary requirements?
We regularly cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests.
For more complex requirements or severe allergies, we recommend notifying us at least 14 days before your event.
Our team can then confirm which menu items and preparation arrangements are suitable.
Do you offer late-night wedding snacks?
You bet.
In fact, it's one of our most popular catering services.
Once the formalities are finished and the dance floor is in full swing, we roll in with hot toasties and triple-cooked chips.
No seating plans. No speeches. Just good food when everyone needs it most.
We can work with your venue and wedding schedule to coordinate the best serving time.
Do you offer breakfast catering?
Yes.
We also offer breakfast catering for workplace meetings, corporate events and morning functions.
Get in touch for our current breakfast menu and available packages.

Depending on the location, guest numbers and menu, we may be able to provide a different service setup.
Can you work with our event organiser or venue coordinator?
Of course.
We regularly work alongside wedding planners, venue managers, corporate event teams and festival organisers.
We're happy to coordinate arrival times, site access, service schedules and other logistics directly with your event team.
What makes TOASTA different from other food trucks?
We've been doing this since 2014.
TOASTA started with a simple idea: take the humble toasted sandwich and give it its own food truck.
Since then, we've served at festivals, weddings, corporate events and private parties throughout Victoria.
We've built our business around a specialised menu, experienced staff, self-sufficient equipment and the ability to feed crowds efficiently.
We're not trying to serve everything. We know what we do, and we've spent years getting better at it.
Still have questions?
We've probably heard stranger ones.
Tell us what you're planning, how many people you're feeding and where the party's happening.
We'll help you work out the rest.
