lululemon’s crew had just smashed an end-of-financial-year milestone. A reward was in order. Not a platter in the lunchroom. Something worth talking about on Monday.

The brief: a Christmas in July Christmas party at their warehouse in Truganina, and a team that had earned something special. We took it from there.

Workplace catering Melbourne, minus the boring bit

We didn’t reach for the usual menu. We wrote a new one: our first ever Christmas menu, built on the Boxing Day leftovers toastie everyone secretly loves, and turned up to celebration level.

The Cray ’n’ Prawn is the one we’re proudest of. We went looking for another caterer serving a crayfish toastie and couldn’t find one. As far as we can tell, it’s a first.

Warehouse catering that moves

240 hungry people. 90 minutes. That’s where a food truck earns its keep. No kitchen needed, no one leaving the building: the truck parks up and the party comes to it.

We rolled in self-sufficient, dressed in festive packaging and decor, with a buffet of triple-cooked chips, turkey gravy, a beetroot and feta salad, a rocket and pecorino salad and Israeli couscous salad. House-made punch on the side. Gluten free, halal, vegan, lactose free and more were all covered, so everyone got a proper Christmas toastie. We handled the setup and the clean-up too.
